Privacy Policy for Water Reminder

Water Reminder (“we”, “us”, or “our”) operates the Water Reminder mobile application (the “Service”). Water Reminder is developed by Nyxara Labs.

This page informs you of our policies regarding the collection, use, disclosure, retention, and deletion of personal data when you use our Service, and the choices you have associated with that data.

Summary

Water Reminder is designed to work primarily on your device. Your hydration data (water intake logs, goals, streaks, and settings) is stored locally on your device only. We do not operate any account system, cloud sync, or server-side database. The only data that leaves your device is limited advertising and analytics information sent to our advertising partners, Meta (Facebook) and TikTok, for conversion tracking, as described below.

Information Collection and Use

Data Stored Locally on Your Device

The following data is created and stored only on your device using local storage (Room database and DataStore). It is never transmitted to us or to any server we control:

Water intake logs (amount and time)
Daily hydration goals
Streak information
App settings and preferences (reminder times and interval, units, theme)

There is no login, no user account, and no cloud synchronization. We never receive a copy of this data.

App Events Shared With Advertising Partners

We use two advertising measurement tools: Meta App Events (provided by Meta Platforms, Inc.) and TikTok App Events (provided by TikTok Pte. Ltd., part of the ByteDance group). Both are used for conversion tracking and analytics.

The same limited set of information is sent to each provider:

Your device’s Advertising ID (GAID)
App event names and simple numeric parameters, limited to the following:
- app_install — sent once, the first time the app is opened
- water_logged — includes the amount logged, in millilitres
- daily_goal_set — includes the daily target you selected, in millilitres
- daily_goal_completed — includes the daily target that was reached
- streak_achieved — includes the number of consecutive days
- reminder_enabled — sent when you turn reminders on
Technical information automatically collected by each SDK, such as device model, operating system version, app version, language and country setting, IP address, and installation/session information
Install referrer information provided by the Google Play Store, used to attribute an install to the advertisement that led to it

We do not send any personally identifiable information to either provider. Specifically, we do not send your name, email address, phone number, contacts, user ID, precise location, or your stored water intake history. Only the individual event values listed above are sent, at the moment each event occurs.

Meta and TikTok each act as an independent controller of the data they receive. For more information on how they handle your data, please see:

Permissions

Our app requests the following permissions:

Internet / Network State – required to send conversion events to Meta and TikTok
Post Notifications – to show hydration reminders
Receive Boot Completed – to reschedule reminders after your device restarts
Advertising ID (AD_ID) – used for attribution through Meta App Events and TikTok App Events

Use of Data

Water Reminder uses data for the following purposes:

To provide and maintain the core functionality of the Service (tracking water intake, goals, and streaks)
To deliver local reminders and notifications you have enabled
To measure advertising effectiveness and app performance through Meta App Events and TikTok App Events
To improve our Service

We do not sell your personal information. We share limited data only with the following third-party service providers:

Meta Platforms, Inc. – receives your device’s Advertising ID and app event data for conversion tracking and analytics via Meta App Events.
TikTok Pte. Ltd. (ByteDance) – receives your device’s Advertising ID and app event data for advertising attribution, measurement, and campaign optimisation via TikTok App Events.

Apart from the data sent to Meta and TikTok as described above, your data never leaves your device.

Data Retention

Your hydration data (water intake logs, goals, streaks, and settings) is stored locally on your device and is retained for as long as the app remains installed. Because this data is stored only on your device, we do not retain any copy of it on external servers, and there is no retention period on our side.

Advertising ID and event data sent to Meta and TikTok are retained by those providers in accordance with their own data retention policies. We do not independently store or retain this data, and we have no server of our own on which it could be kept.

Data Deletion

You are in full control of your data and can delete it at any time:

Clear app data: Go to your device Settings > Apps > Water Reminder > Storage > Clear Data. This permanently removes all of your locally stored water logs, goals, streaks, and settings.
Uninstall the app: Uninstalling Water Reminder permanently deletes all data associated with the app from your device.

Because your hydration data is stored locally, these actions permanently and completely remove it. There is no account to delete, and we hold no server-side copy of your data.

For advertising data already sent to Meta or TikTok, you can limit or reset it through your device’s Advertising ID settings — for example, by resetting or deleting your Advertising ID, or by opting out of ad personalisation, under Settings > Google > Ads on most Android devices. You may also use the privacy controls offered by each provider directly, and you may contact them to exercise your data rights under applicable law.

Security of Data

We take reasonable measures to protect your data. Your hydration data remains on your device. Data transmitted to Meta and TikTok (Advertising ID and event data) is sent over an encrypted connection. However, no method of electronic storage or transmission is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Children’s Privacy

Our Service is intended for users aged 16 and older. We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under the age of 16. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us so we can take appropriate action.

Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the “Effective Date” above.

Most recent change (August 13, 2026): added disclosure of TikTok App Events as a second advertising measurement provider.
